Samsung is rumored to launch a new Galaxy Grand family member at MWC 2014 – in addition to the Galaxy Grand and the Galaxy Grand 2 – the so-called Galaxy Grand Lite (model number GT-I9060).

Sam Mobile has apparently received information from one of its insiders that the Galaxy Grand Lite is “something of a cross Grand and Grand 2” handset. The device will reportedly pack a 5-inch WVGA display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, microSD support, 5-megapixel camera, VGA front-facing camera 2100mAh battery and Android 4.2 or Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on board.

The phone is expected to come with dual-SIM support, at least in some markets, and will be available in various markets including white, “Midnight Black,” “Lime Green,” and orange. Curiously, the phone is said to actually launch around the fifth week of 2014, therefore weeks ahead of its MWC 2014 announcement. Pricing details have not been mentioned.

As you can see in the blurry image below, the Galaxy Grand Lite looks awfully similar to the Galaxy Grand 2 (top image), assuming of course that the leak is accurate.

We’ll remind you that this is just a rumor so far, and should be treated accordingly. We’ll be back with more details about the handset once it becomes official. Meanwhile, we can’t but wonder whether the world actually needs a Galaxy Grand Lite version. What do you think?

Samsung has gone beyond “flooding the market”. It’s more like Atlantis now. With the Moto G out, it will be interesting to see how much they sell this for…

the Galaxy Grand Super Lite will come after, and in between they’ll release the Galaxy Grand Heavy, Super Heavy, and they’ll finish this Galaxy Grand range with a Mini and Note version, but at the same time and while they are making these product, they’ll Make some other Galaxy Something range of phones, while outside of the Galaxy Range they’ll make range of the range in the range, a la Inception.

I’m really curious, and I really want to know if Samsung is making money from all their range or are they just flooding some market sectors to kill the competition while relaying on their income from high end and of course the other lucrative divisions to make money, that would be anti-competitive at least here in EU

Samsung has more galaxies than the universe!

I think samsung should pack up with all their galaxy little brothers or sister and focus on the Note and the Galaxy S series. No wonder the S4 was a yawn compared to the S3. And maybe they can make a brand new android phone without touchwiz maybe put something new and creative and take away the galaxy in it.

I hate this. What’s so hard about making the “Lite”/”mini” version of a phone with the same exact specs save for the screen (and *maybe* battery if it really can’t be fit into the equation, but even so it shouldn’t be a drastic difference)?

It would have been a real upgrade if it had 720p screen. Anyways The Official FIFA App is amazing! You can even watch the FIFA Finals right in the app!! Check out the FIFA App review right here!!

Samsung flooding the market with yet more pointless handsets in an attempt to gain more customers, while they continue to ignore the customers they actually have by holding off on updates, or botching them completely. I’m still waiting for this supposed 4.3 update for my Note 2, almost 2 weeks after it started rolling out. At least I’m not a poor S3 user here in the UK/Ireland. Not buying another Samsung. They can flood the market all they like.

    Bought Samsung Galaxy Grand Yesterday!

I wouldn’t buy a phone with that chip and clock speeds. My gs2 skyrocket lagged a lot with a 1.5 ghz. Imagine slower speeds will bring it to a stand still.
