It might not be “designed for humans” and it doesn’t come from the most popular and successful Android manufacturer of the moment, but the HTC One X is one heck of a phone and some even consider it the greatest out there. There was, however, one thing missing to make the One X truly amazing, and that was a custom ROM to tickle the imagination of amateur (and professional) rooters. Less than a week ago, we found out that the phone’s bootloader was finally unlocked, so it was only a matter of time until we could flash some tweaked software goodness on…

The independent developers community has really had a field day with the Galaxy S3’s software, although Sammy’s flagship is yet to be made available to the wide public. The device’s official ROM has been leaked more than a week ago, the S3 has been rooted even earlier, the first custom ROM has appeared almost instantly after, the S Voice app was made to work with non-S3 devices and, finally, the TouchWiz UX launcher was ported to the Galaxy S2. That’s some very impressive work from modders and hackers already, but that’s not all that has been done with S3’s software….

We finally have good news for those AT&T HTC One X users out there who like to root and flash ROMS. A member of XDA-Forums named grankin01 has come up with an unofficial way to unlock the bootloader on HTC’s uber phone. This is particularly excellent news, considering we have no idea if HTC is going to release an official bootloader unlock tool. Grankin01’s method of unlocking the bootloader basically tricks the AT&T version of the phone into thinking it’s a Rogers HTC One X, a version that does have an unlocked bootloader. If you are proficient at rooting and command…

I know that you just can’t get enough of the news about the newly unveiled Samsung Galaxy S3, especially when talking about its software, hacks, custom ROMs, and so on. That’s why we’re glad to tell you that the handheld’s TouchWiz UX launcher has been ported to the Galaxy S2, courtesy of a skilled member of the XDA-Developers forum. The news comes less than a week after the Galaxy S3’s stock ROM has been leaked, a few days after the first custom ROM popped up on the web, and just two days after the S Voice app has been made to work on…

While just a week ago we were getting worried about the HTC EVO 4G LTE’s release, due to a customs debacle that delayed US shipments, the good news about Sprint’s new flagship are now coming in packs. Less than 24 hours after the first units should have started shipping to those of you who pre-ordered the phone, the independent Android developers community has itself made the device more accessible to the masses. That’s right, folks, there’s already a root method available for the EVO 4G LTE and it’s pretty simple and straightforward. The entire step-by-step guide on how to root (and…

The Transformer Pad 300 might not be the hottest Android-based tablet available these days, but Asus has its ways to ensure the popularity of the company’s products. The 10-incher quad-core tablet has just gotten a bootloader unlock tool, so if custom ROMs are your thing, the “games” can now officially begin! Following in the footsteps of the Transformer Prime, the Transformer Pad 300 has been released last month with pretty much the same tech specs as its predecessor, but with a plastic exterior replacing the sturdy and elegant Prime’s aluminum body. Asus has released a bootloader unlock tool for the…

Samsung’s Galaxy S3 still has a long way to go before its official release, especially in the US or Canada (where it still doesn’t have a precise launch date), but you can already play around with the new phone’s software. A couple of days back, XDA dev Chainfire managed to root the S3 without even holding it for a second in his hands, while just  hours later the official ROM had been leaked, courtesy of another industrious developer, Faryaab. It was only a matter of time before we began to see custom ROMs pop up on the web, so it should come as…

Just days after detailing the future of CyanogenMod 7 and ensuring us that they will continue work on the Android 2.3 software builds beyond CM 7.3, our favorite independent dev team has already released a number of custom 7.2 RC2 ROMs for several Samsung, LG, and Sony devices. CyanogenMod 7.2, based on Android Gingerbread, is not yet final and needs additional work, but if you’re eager to get a taste of the software package and you have one of the supported devices, you can go ahead and download the builds from this link. The LG Optimus Black P970 is one…

Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich is all that everybody talks about right now and each and every one of you who owns a device running an older version of the OS is craving a scoop of tasty ICS and its butter smooth action. CM9 is the alternate software to go for in case your phone is not on an official Android 4.0 update list, but even that’s not enough to satisfy the needs of every mobile user out there. Fear not, though, because CyanogenMod 7, based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, is a project that will be taken to new heights, according…

Kennethpenn Well, it didn’t take long for the folks at XDA-developers to come up with a permanent rooting solution for the HTC One X on AT&T. You can head to the thread right now if you can’t wait to remove some bloatware from your shiny new phone. Of course, that’s just one of the benefits that root access can provide you. For now, the rooting method seems to be working for the HTC One X versions offered by AT&T and Rogers. The one-click process is super simple – all you have to do is follow six simple steps. Therefore, you…
