by: Andrew GrushAugust 31, 2012
The Galaxy Note 10.1 sure has had a lot of customization already, with a root arriving long before the tablet even hit the market. Shortly after, ClockworkMod was ported to Note 10.1, and now even custom ROMs have begun to surface. Looking to get your mod on with the Galaxy Note 10.1? XDA Developers forum has some of the first custom ROMs already. There are three different ROMs, each with their own different features and appeal.

Believe it or not, OG Motorola Droid gets Jelly Bean via custom ROM

by: Andrew GrushAugust 27, 2012
It's hard to believe that its been three years since the original Motorola Droid hit the market. Whether you love Motorola or not, it's hard to deny that the Droid was a significant part of the growth of Android during its heyday. Fast-forwarding today and the Droid still manages to carry on, despite being near-archaic in age for a smartphone. While most Droid users have moved on to newer handsets, one developer at XDA has decided to show just how capable the Droid still is, pushing out a complete build of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Multiple Jelly Bean ports now available for HTC EVO 3D

by: AdrianAugust 23, 2012
XDA-Developers has tracked no less than four Android 4.1-based custom ROMs in its forum threads and, while neither of these is yet fully functional and stable, you can’t possibly say no to all of them. That is if you want to taste some Jelly Bean goodness on your EVO 3D, of course.

HTC Thunderbolt Android Ice Cream Sandwich Leak

by: Derek RossAugust 21, 2012

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has been long promised for the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt. HTC told us back in May that we should see something in June or July. Earlier this month HTC updated Thunderbolt owners again, moving their timeline to the end of August. It looks like they may just be on target after all.

Team BAMF has managed to get a hold of a leaked ROM for the HTC Mecha aka Thunderbolt. It’s build number 7.00.605.2 and running Android 4.0.3. Everything is fully functional in this ROM including 3g, 4g, phone calls, sms, mms and more. HTC Sense has been updated to version 3.6 which is a substantial update over the original Sense 2.1 that came with [...]

CyanogenMod 10 Boot Animation Available for Download

by: Derek RossAugust 21, 2012

Last night the author of the last few CyanogenMod boot animations, 73v1n, graced the world with a completely revamped boot animation for CyanogenMod 10. The CyanogenMod 9 boot animation featured the CyanogenMod mascot, Cid, which seemed to generate a lot of rage from many CM fans. During the bootup process, Cid’s facial expression changed a bit, looking angry, bad, evil (or bad ass) depending whom you ask. Learning a thing or two since last time, the author decided to completely redo the boot boot animation, removing all traces of Cid, version numbers, and making it as clean as possible.

Since the last time I made one of these, I realized that boot animations [...]

While nightly builds of AOKP already implement a custom 4.1 Jelly Bean release, official releases of the custom ROM are still based on 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Device support is still limited, and the developers are not accepting bug reports yet.

by: Bams SadewoAugust 17, 2012
When it comes to subject of Android 4.0 ICS upgrade, the lesser known (compared to the flagship S) Samsung Galaxy R has not been forgotten by Samsung. Released last year as the more affordable alternative to the Galaxy S2, the Galaxy R is scheduled to receive the new firmware in August, though no specific date was given. By a stroke of luck, a Galaxy R owner has received Ice Cream Sandwich on his phone ahead of everyone else, thanks to the company’s mishap.

ClockworkMod for G-Note 10.1 unleashed: Let the custom ROMs flow

by: AdrianAugust 17, 2012
The Galaxy Note 10,1 wasn’t even officially out when an independent dev compiled a very helpful tutorial on how to root the device. And now that the 10-incher has finally made it onto the market, it should not come as a surprise that a ClockworkMod Recovery tool has been released, making everything ready for the upcoming custom ROM “avalanche”.
