Canadians may have to update their holiday wishlists as a new Samsung Android smartphone is heading their way via Rogers–the Samsung Galaxy S Glide.
MobileSyrup.com, which was sent live photos of the device, was also told that the Samsung Galaxy S Glide will hit Rogers “just in time for the holidays.”
Unfortunately, no pricing information is available yet.
The Samsung Galaxy S Glide carries a name apt for its 4-row gliding QWERTY keyboard. The device is reportedly thicker than the Samsung Infuse 4G, presumably because of the sliding keyboard.
The QWERTY slider smartphone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread on top of an unnamed 1.2-GHz dual-core processor. Its 4.0-inch display touchscreen may be smaller than the 4.3-inch or 4.5-inch touchscreens that are becoming standard these days, and it is packed with only a Super AMOLED panel. The Samsung Galaxy S II, in contrast, has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen display.
It will also have an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 1.2-megapixel secondary camera.
Slider QWERTY smartphones appeal a lot to those who prefer a faster way to type and text, but that doesn’t mean those phones can’t come with powerful hardware, too. The Samsung Galaxy S Glide is just that kind of phone.
Does this QWERTY smartphone from Samsung deserve to be on your shopping list for the holidays? Why or why not?
