Rogers puts Sony Xperia Arc & Sony Xperia Play up for pre-order
Great news Canadians! The Sony Xperia PLAY and Sony Xperia Arc are both being released exclusively through Rogers by the end of April. Thumb-happy Canadians will finally have access to this great device, as it is available for pre-order through Rogers Wireless now. It”s one of those devices that is a wonderful combination of everything you need and want in a mobile gaming powerhouse. Featuring Android 2.3, the Xperia Play boasts a powerful 1Ghz processor and feature set. Initial performance reviews have also been quite positive. While there aren’t a ton of games available yet, we are sure Sony will be remedying this shortly. The real appeal of the device lies in the fact that it features a slide out component with physical buttons that offers a much more immersive experience over its touch screen rivals. Sony is dubbing these controls as the the “first PlayStation Certified game controls”.
The Sony Xperia Arc is also a beautiful device, that already has a significant following. Featuring equally powerful specs like its tactile oriented sibling, the Sony Xperia Arc features improvements in the areas of imaging, and in particular its camera, which takes marvelous pictures – even at night! It is also one of the thinnest devices on the market too, and will be available sometime between Arpil 19-21. Thankfully, unlike the Motorola Atrix and Droid Bionic, both devices will be shipping with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board.
To make matters even more enticing, its going for $99 on a new contract with Rogers. It will also come pre-loaded with a few good games to get you started. Specs included a 5.0 MP camera, Wi-Fi, GPS as well as access to the ever expanding Android Market. The only caveat is that this is pre-order, and Roger’s makes no mention of when this delightful mobile gaming powerhouse will actually be shipped to you. Either way, it’s a good thing! You should also know that the Sony Xperia Play comes in two different colors – both white and black!
