republic-wireless-defy-xtIt took a whole year for Republic Wireless to go from beta to finally offering its hybrid wireless service to everyone who is interested in the carrier’s $19 monthly plan, which covers unlimited phone calls, texting, and browsing.

After announcing back in September that it’s readying a dual-band variant of the Motorola Defy XT that’s compatible to run on both 800 MHz and 1900 MHz frequencies, the phone is finally shipping out to customers.

Aside from the additional 800 MHz antenna on the phone, it’s still the same ol’ Motorola Defy XT that most have come to appreciate for its rugged exterior. The Defy XT boasts a 3.7-inch Gorilla Glass display with 854 x 480 resolution, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM, 5MP main camera, VGA front-facing camera, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
