While Lollipop has been out for almost half a year now, there are a plethora of devices that have seen neither hide nor tail of the orb-shaped, hard-candy-themed Android build. Some devices are confirmed to be getting the update eventually, while others are a wait-and-see affair. The remainder fall squarely in the camp of “probably never going to happen”. Samsung’s lesser-known Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, is one such product. For all intents-and-purposes, it was little more than a slightly upgraded Note 2 in a new package, and as such was obviously not a big priority for Samsung’s update timeline.

Still, there is some very good news for those with the Neo, as Samsung France has just confirmed via Twitter that the device will see Lollipop in the future. While this is something to rejoice over, no specifics were given thus the roll-out could happen next month, or even pending delays, next year. It’s also worth mentioning that Twitter has been a common place of “mis-Tweets” wherein over-eager staff members type out something that ends up not being true at all, something Sony had a bout with recently.

Here is the commitment (in French), for those interested:

Kudos to Samsung for seeking to update as many devices to Lollipop as possible, though it would be a bit nicer for those users if things happened with a bit more hâte.
