A Vietnamese retailer published an image that supposedly shows a red version of the Nexus 5. Google may also introduce a yellow version in the future.
The device pictured above is said to be a sample unit obtained by the Vietnamese online store MaiNguyen.com. According to Vietnamese website Zing.vn (via Webtrek.it), the red Nexus 5 will become available in late February or March 2014, while a yellow model will be introduced at some point in the future. The site claims the yellow version will resemble the bright color of Nokia’s Lumia, rather than the gold of the LG G2 or iPhone 5S.
We have no way of telling if this red Nexus is indeed real, but the image doesn’t show any signs of manipulation, and the bright color matches the scheme used by Google on some of its official accessories. The red case for the Nexus 5 seems to be the same color in fact. Looking at the Vietnamese image, it doesn’t look like it’s a black Nexus with a case on, but a little photo manipulation could hide that.
If a yellow Nexus 5 is indeed coming, it will probably look a lot like the yellow Nexus 5 bumper case:
Earlier this week, Phone Arena published a video supposedly showing several new color options for the Nexus 5. That turned out to be a hoax, probably made with the Hue tool in Photoshop.
However, Paul O’Brien, a well-known Android developer, recently tweeted that there may be some truth to the story after all:
Note: Nexus 5 coloured version leaks are nowhere near representative of the colours of the actual products. Bad ‘shops. Surprises to come.

A release in February would make the red Nexus 5 a great choice for a gift on Valentine’s Day. It’s all rumors and speculation at this point, but we won’t be surprised if new colors will be coming by then.
