Do you buy phone insurance? [Poll of the Week]

When you get a new smartphone, do you buy phone insurance? Or do you think it's a waste of money? Let us know in the latest Poll of the Week.

Last week's poll summary: Okay, maybe I'm not so crazy after all. Out of over 3,500 total votes, 48.1% of our readers said they always keep a clean notification shade, while 33.8% of our readers said they get annoyed at notifications, but they don't really get stressed out. 16.1% of our readers said they never get stressed out by having too many unread notifications.

Spending hundreds of dollars on a new smartphone can be hard enough, and seeing your phone bill go up and up can be disconcerting when you’re visiting your carrier store. I get it — adding phone insurance to your monthly bill might be the furthest thing from your mind.

I know not everyone buys phone insurance, but perhaps they should. According to one of our recent polls, about 40% of voters said they’ve unfortunately ruined one of their smartphones in the past. But if those people didn’t have phone insurance when that happened, they were probably out a lot of money.

However, I understand why you wouldn’t want to spend the extra money on insurance. That extra $10 a month can add up over time, and if you’re really careful with your phones, you might not ever need to use it.

I think our readers are pretty split on this issue, so we’d like to know — do you buy phone insurance? Why or why not? Cast your vote in the poll attached below, and speak up in the comments if there’s anything you’d like to add.
