Phoload, a provider of applications and games for other mobile devices, has begun showcasing free applications for the Android platform. The service includes only free (and ad-supported) applications for download, and allows developers to upload their own applications directly to the site. Users of Android devices that view the site through their phones will view a filtered version of the site that displays applications that are compatible with Android phones.
Although the site is incredibly neat and organized, there is still worry that many “mini” distributions sites for Android applications will undermine the purpose of the Android market, akin to the varied plethora of repositories for jailbroken iPhone apps.
