Although Philips isn’t the innovators of the Android-specific headphones (manufactured by Klipsch), it’s still pretty exciting to know that Philips has joined the bandwagon. In fact, they have amped up their style by offering an entire range of these accessories, christened with the name Made for Android headsets.

The collection of sound gear is comprised of reasonably priced ear hooks, ear buds, and cans.  Moreover, the collection also includes a full remote control and in-line microphone feature for Android devices.

But what sets Philips apart from ordinary headphones is the fact that this Made for Android headsets line comes with a full functionality available for different Android smartphones and tablets, regardless of its manufacturer. Upon purchase of the headphones, users will be prompted to download a specific app from the Android Market. The user gets to tell the app which specific Android devices he owns and as such, will be able to program their headset to deal with the music management capabilities on the device. At the same time, call management features are available as well as launching another app through the on-cable remote. The app also offers audio equalizer properties and a few sound modes.

As of this writing, the app is compatible with Android smartphones and tablets from Samsung, Motorola, LG, and HTC. Prices for the headsets range from $29.99 to $99.99; depending on style and comfort. Made for Android headphones by Philips will be available starting Q2 of this year.
