Pebble smartwatch owners needn’t worry about their device refusing to turn back on any longer, as Pebble has released a new software update to resolve the problem.
We first reported on the issue a couple of days ago, the problem being that after shutting down some users watches were refusing to turn back on. The issue cropped up after the latest 1.9 update, but only affected a limited number of users.
The fault was seemingly caused by the microcontroller failing to reconfigure itself before the screen went dark, which left the buttons unresponsive when the user tried to turn it back on. The new 1.9.1 update sorts this all out, so once you’ve updated your smartwatch will be immune from this issue.
If you are one of the few people affected by this bug, unfortunately the update won’t restore your watch to good health. If you haven’t done so already, you’ll have to contact Pebble for a replacement.
It’s good to know that Pebble is sorting out these issues so quickly, and hopefully this will be the last major bug we hear about.
