Yesterday we reported that the first shipments of the Pebble smart watch had started going out to Kickstarter backers. Now we are happy to report the official Android app has hit the Google Play store as well.

The Android app allows you to connect your new smart watch to your Android phone through Bluetooth. Using the app will allow your watch to display information such as email alerts, incoming calls, messages and even information like the weather.

Outside of connectivity with your phone, the app acts as a hub for getting new watch faces and will be the place to get information about new updates for the Pebble watch and the app. According to the watch’s creators, they plan to frequently update the Android app which will hopefully add new features as time progresses.

Now all you have to do is sit back and wait for your Pebble to arrive. For those that have yet to order a Pebble smart watch, do you plan on doing so once the watch becomes more widely available?
