We won’t blame you if you’re not quite up to speed on who’s suing who for patent infringements these days.

Just look at the Infographic on patent battlefield of tech IP that Visual.ly created. It’s quite a tangled mess, isn’t it? For whatever reasons companies are fighting over intellectual property, customers are the ones who usually have to bear the brunt, with devices being delayed or their prices going up. And things will only get worse, since the patent war isn’t ending anytime soon. Though it might be out of our hands, at least we have the graphic below to clear things up a bit.

Kodak, Interdigital, Microsoft, and Apple are clearly the main attackers. . .

One struggling for survival and suing anyone for a buck, Kodak. One a “patent portfolio company” (read: patent troll), Interdigital.

And two that built their companies by stealing other’s IP, especially software ideas, at a time when software patents were rarely ever given and now that’s pretty much their whole shtick now, software patents (read: software patent trolls), Apple & Microsoft.

I guess the saying “now one hates a thief more than a thief” holds true more than ever here.
