Paranoid Android team now giving OnePlus and Oppo devices nearly the same treatment as Nexus family

While ROMs like CyanogenMod have often attempted to officially support as many devices as possible, Paranoid Android does things a little differently. Until today, the only devices officially supported by the ROM maker were Nexus handsets and tablets, with all other non-Nexus handsets receiving support using the “legacy” channel. What this means is that Nexus owners see Paranoid Android updates first, while everyone else has to wait for the ROM to be ported over to their specific non-Nexus devices.

It seems that an exception has now been made, however, as Paranoid Android’s team has officially announced they are offering up OnePlus One, Oppo N1, Oppo Find 5 and Oppo Find 7 ROMs alongside the Google Nexus family’s builds on their main site. Although OnePlus and Oppo devices were already supported through PA’s legacy channel, this change should mean quicker updates (both stable and alpha) for Oppo/OPO devices. The change also means that the ROMs are likely to have less device-specific bugs and that the PA team will accept bug reports in order to further enhance these official ROMs.

Bottom-line, if you are a fan of PA and are looking for a device that offers the best possible compatibility and support for the ROM, you now have options outside of the Nexus family. You can learn more about the change here, or can grab the ROM from PA’s main site.

Their progress is so damn slow but i’m still hopeful of a future with blank phones where you flash a ROM when you bring it home from the store. Basically it’s all on Cyanogens back. If they fail, no one else will attempt the same thing for some time. If they succeed, it will open a door for a new future where TouchWiz will be a thing of the past.

Start working at home with Google! It’s by-far the best job I’ve had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this – 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail
