There’s good news for all the music lovers in New Zealand and Australia! Pandora Radio has finally launched its services in these two countries, complete with mobile apps for iOS and Android. The company had started beta testing services back in July and remained “patiently opportunistic” before their first international expansion.
The Pandora team believes that Australians and New Zealanders are among the “most mobile-centric societies” and this would be the reason of high uptake of its free mobile apps. Pandora music has been available, until now, in the two countries on a desktop-only trial basis. In an email interview with TechCrunch, Amanda Livinghood of Pandora cited the reasons why they chose these two countries for their first international expansion:
“The music market is very complex where payments, royalties and related issues are concerned and we’ve recently finalized everything we need to get the Pandora experience off the ground in Australia and New Zealand,” she wrote. “We know Australians and New Zealanders love both local and international music and we also know that they’re huge users of mobile devices and social media.”
Pandora along with its amazing online features like real time feeds, personalised playlists and online sharing, has added local genre stations for Australia and New Zealand. It will feature new genre stations for local artists of the two countries to attract listeners who enjoy listening to local hits.
You can download the mobile Android app from the Play Store for free. Do let us know your experience.
