If you’re like me, you find having to plug in your phone to charge it quite annoying. After all, we now live in a wireless world. What could be more cumbersome than having your phone plugged into the wall half the day? Wireless charging isn’t new, for example Palm (R.I.P) and HP made their Touchstone wireless charging system available for their webOS devices. It just hasn’t quite caught yet, but we’ll get into the reason for that later. The good news is that wireless charging looks like it may soon become more main stream, and one sign of this is …
Staying connected has never been so easy, thanks to the modern-day smartphone, keeping us in touch with our friends even when they are out of reach. With advancements in the field of communications, smartphones have also evolved in how we communicate with other people. Thanks to VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology, users can now get in touch with the special people in their lives by using the Internet connection on their phones. Since VoIP relies on the Internet, calling someone is relatively free of charge, with the exception of possible charges for using the Internet data connection. Here are …
More than half of the world has mobile phones which serve as peoples’ everyday mode of communication with their loved ones, for texts and calls, or even for exchanging flirty messages and heartaches. After a while, that routine gets boring. There are times that not a single text or call arrives on your phone, which results in your being afflicted with boredom. That’s one of the greatest issues of having a phone in your pocket. If you just receive simple texts like “How are you?”, “Hey!”, “Hi”, “What are you doing?” and make replies like “I’m OK,” “Yeah!,” “Hello,” and …

Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform has been released for more than a year and a half, but it has struggled to become a worthy competitor to Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS. The small number of devices running WP, as well as the relatively poor ecosystem have led to sales of just 2.7 million Windows Phone gadgets in Q1 2012. The mobile operating system powered only 2.6 percent of the smartphones sold worldwide in the first three months of 2012, which is disappointing for a product developed by a company that is so used to dominating markets. While the poor sales will probably go on …
T-Mobile’s myTouch line has proven very popular over the years, especially due to the devices’ features, but also thanks to the quality to price ratio they delivered. Started way back in 2009, with the myTouch 3G that ran Android 1.5 Cupcake (!), the series has had its latest revamp in the fall of 2011, in the form of the myTouch Q, running Gingerbread. Although more and more tech users are looking towards high-end devices these days, especially in the US, it seems that T-Mo will continue to push in the entry-level niche. Not one, but two myTouch phones will be …
As inconvenient as it is, it’s quite the norm for customers to get unwanted surprises (read: software glitches or hardware defects) upon purchasing an Android device — or any other electronic devices for that matter. But how would you feel about buying a phone that comes with a built-in “backdoor” feature that allows others to manipulate the phone from afar for potentially unlawful purposes? That’s what ZTE has apparently admitted to have found in one of its Android phones in the US. The Chinese phone maker has confirmed that the ZTE Score, which is sold through various carriers in the …
While many Samsung Android-based smartphones and tablets are still (un)fashionably late to the Ice Cream Sandwich party, HTC is doing its best to keep its customers happy and updated. Less than a week after the Sensation 4G has received an Android 4.0 official OTA upgrade, the Amaze 4G is currently enjoying the same refreshing treatment. T-Mobile’s exclusive device is getting the ICS update right on schedule, as it has been announced for a while, which is yet another reason for HTC and T-Mo customers to be happy with their manufacturer and carrier of choice. If you haven’t yet received a …

Do you remember the Sony Xperia U that we told you about not so long ago? The smartphone was supposed to be released in the UK early this month but was later pushed to May 28. It’s still a few days before the supposed launch date, but Three UK has already announced its availability, starting today on three.co.uk and from tomorrow at all Three stores in the UK. If you’re in the UK right now and you’re interested in getting hold of the “cheapest” model among the current crop of Sony Xperia smartphones, then it’s just a matter of clicking …
As you probably already know, Samsung is the official sponsor of the London 2012 Summer Olympics, which means one thing and one thing only for us tech enthusiasts. Several of the company’s gadgets will be redesigned, rebranded, and receive special editions, to celebrate the Games and get us all in an Olympic fever pitch. The Galaxy S3 has already been announced as the event’s official device a few weeks back, but we were certainly expecting more Olympic marketing push from Samsung. Ask and you shall receive, because we’ve just heard news of a special Galaxy Note Olympic Edition set to be …
While Google and Oracle are still fiercely battling it out in court in a patent infringement war whose outcome is almost impossible to predict, the Apple vs Samsung clash is about to enter a new phase. The mediation stage will start today, as it was scheduled for around three weeks, and is set to end tomorrow, hopefully with some sort of truce. For those of you who’ve been living under a very isolated rock for a while, we should tell you that the two biggest smartphone manufacturers in the world have been on a suing spree for the last couple …
Following the approval that Google had received from US and European regulators for the acquisition of Motorola Mobility, the last big hurdle before the finalization of the buyout was the blessing from the Chinese authorities. It looks like the acquisition plan can finally be completed, as Google announced over the weekend that the $12.5 billion deal has been approved, on one condition: Google has to keep the Android operating system open and free for other phone makers, for the next five years. Responding to the positive feedback from the Chinese government, Google spokeswoman Niki Fenwick said that the company looks forward …
Initially called Windows Commander back in 1993, Christian Ghisler’s file management software, now Total Commander, has had an Android version in the works for quite some time. Back in August 2011, the app had its first rc1 (release candidate) version and, ever since then, we’ve been waiting for Total Commander to hit Android Market (now Google Play). After so much time, it is great to finally welcome Total Commander for Android in the freemium app world, especially considering the fact that initial feedback is great. The app has been put up for download on Google Play a couple of days …
