    LG G2

LG has been making more than a few right moves over the past several quarters, despite not making records in terms of sales of their smartphones, either in the U.S. or globally. Today, LG brings us an official announcement:

The next flagship device from LG Electronics (LG) will be officially known as G2 and will be the first smartphone from LG to be launched as part of the company’s new “G” premium brand

Where once we had the Nexus 4 and what it did for the acclaim of the Nexus franchise, we now have LG playing a close game of cat and mouse with its fraternal foe, incumbent Samsung of South Korea. Shortly thereafter, we saw the Optimus G, an excellent device in its own right, that, once again, didn’t make ‘huge’ waves.

Most recently LG impressed us with their beautiful Optimus G Pro, a device designed to preemptively attack Samsung’s Galaxy Note series before the launch of the Galaxy Note 3, something likely to happen at IFA Berlin, in early September.

Looking forward and with regards to the LG G2, we’ll be on the ground in New York on August 7th to give you an up close and personal look at the brand new LG G2, which should be a very impressive, Snapdragon 800 toting powerhouse of a device!

    Stay tuned!

LG ALIGNS PREMIUM SMARTPHONE BEHIND NEW “G” NAME

SEOUL, July 19, 2013 — The next flagship device from LG Electronics (LG) will be officially known as G2 and will be the first smartphone from LG to be launched as part of the company’s new “G” premium brand. Future smartphones in the same series will carry only the G name while the branding of mobile devices that have already been introduced will continue unchanged.

“Our vision is to make LG’s newest G devices synonymous with excellence, raising the bar even further for the ultimate in user experience,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The new G2 will build upon the excellent reputation established by previous G Series products.”
Furthermore, LG’s premium 4:3 display smartphones will be rebranded as simply “Vu:” going forward. All of LG’s smartphones feature next generation core technologies and familiar UX with each series highlighting a different facet of the company’s product expertise.

LG is so damaged in Europe due to broken promises of updates and awful Customer service that it is hard to view any device they may make as premium, having owned 2 LG phones I would certainly never buy from them again.
A real shame because they seem to be making better handsets….

So LG copies the Galaxy design…Copies the S-cover…Now copies the same type of name (S v G)…copies the same “unpacked theme”…plus copies the same type of advertisement strategies!!! Okay but in all fairness the buttons will be at the back of the phone…WOW…INNOVATION!

Let just see if the phone is PLASTIC because the Samsung haters hate PLASTIC and the same design language….and because it is the the G2 it means that is shouldn’t look anything like the G1(not even the corners)…right?

      • D’Ander McSullivan

They don’t hate plastic, they hate Samsung. If the Galaxy series were made of gold, they’d hate gold.

Have you ever seen them complaining about the One X, the Oppo Find 5 or so for being made of plastic? Never, right?

      • Kash Gummaraju

They’re using the nexus 4 design so it’s plastic and glass

        But LG makes better phones.

      SOME OF REASONS TO BE CONSIDERED WHY I LOVE LG PHONES OVER OTHER;

1)Usually LG Phones are Beautiful CLASSY Black color Premium Design.
i still remember Black label series…

      2) TRUE HD IPS+ Display
True to life colors and Sharp

      3) TESTED LONG LASTING DURABILITY
my over 5 years old LG chocolate phone still in very good condition

      4)ORIGINALITY
LG is always brought “FIRSTS” in Smartphones
(Fully Touchscreen phone, Dual core, 3D, Dual HD Video etc…)

      - as far as i know NO -CHINESE PIRATED LG PHONE.

      5) FRIENDLY PRICE compare to Major competitors.

HOW ABOUT software updates? Slow , but they just want to make sure the update will be okay PERFECT FITS for its phone before sending on your phone.

      LUCKY Goldstar ROCKS…..
