Find 7 2014 Hands on AA-1180599

Last week Oppo announced that it will open pre-orders for the 1080p version of the Oppo Find 7 (aka 7a) on April 7th. Oppo also said that it would be giving away some extra freebies to those who snag the handset during its pre-sale period, though at the time they didn’t clarify what these bonus items would be.

Today Oppo let the cat out of the bag, revealing its plans to give pre-order customers an extra battery as well as a free Easy Style cover. Oppo also hints there is a third surprise, though the company doesn’t give us any additional details. So how much will the Oppo Find 7a set back international buyers? The 1080p model is expected to arrive at a price point of $499. The QHD model is expected to cost an additional $100, though it won’t go up for pre-order until a bit later.

As for the specs, the handset will be powered by a Snapdragon 800 CPU with 2GB of RAM. There’s also a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 16GB storage, microSD, a 13MP camera, 5MP front cam, microSD and Color OS (based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean).

For even more details on what to expect from the Find 7, be sure to check out our full coverage from Oppo’s unveiling last month. Also be sure to take a look at some of our hands-on videos:

What do you think, anyone planning on picking up the Oppo Find 7a, or are you holding out for the QHD variant?

It would be nice if alternative phones like this wind up getting carrier subsidies. Not everyone can afford $500-600 out of the gate for a phone. I’d love to try this or the OnePlus One, but unless I can get it at a significant discount I’ll have to stick with a more readily available brand.

I agree they kind of went a bit overboard with the price on this one. The OnePlus is supposed to be under 400$ and this is a fair price. More than that considering the specifications it’s the best you can get in a high end phone. I’m not counting the N5. N5 is an awesome phone but considering the amount of scaling back compared to the G2 i can only say that that is a very high level mid range phone. I imagine this will not be a popular comment but who ever decides to go against this, try it without mentioning the Snapdragon 800. Not everything is in the processor.

How is this a “high level mid-range phone”? This thing is the most powerful phone on the market!

I can’t believe that this phone isn’t getting more buzz. It seems it has everything a phone connoisseur would want. I love that this has fast charging capability. I think this also has a Sony image sensor in it which is great because Sony has been killing the image market for some time now. I have to say the price is reasonable for an unlocked phone. If you wanted it’s equivalent unlocked (galaxy note 3) that would be about 799 and it doesn’t have the screen that this beast of a phone has. I’ve never used Oppo’s color OS so I don’t know if it’s garbage or not.

As an owner of a Samsung galaxy note 3, I am seriously tempted by this phones awesomeness!

I was talking about the N5.

You’re totally right, my bad Luka! I need to work on my reading comprehension ;)

            All good m8 ;)

    I rather have the OnePlus.

I’m actually pretty surprised everybody’s going crazy about the OnePlus one without actually knowing what it’s going to look like. Sure the specs are almost identical to the Oppo Find7a and is cheaper. But we should all know by now how companies hype up their product so much and turn out to be a disappointment much later. So until it shows up, i’m reserving my judgement of “wanting” it.

The Find 7a has a Snapdragon 801 at 2.3ghz Android Authority..
