Opera Max has been released in India

After a long time of waiting, users in India can finally get their hands on Opera Max, an app that helps load things faster on slow Web connections.

Opera Max is an application that uses a VPN that connects to Opera servers. Those servers will compress data before sending it to the phone. The result is faster loading web pages that consume less data. This is great for people who have shoddy Web connections or limited data plans. Now, Opera Max is available in India.

It’s about time, really. India is one of the markets that could benefit from Opera Max a bit with its reportedly slow data speeds and inconsistent WiFi stability in some regions. A recent update to Opera Max added the ability for the service to work on WiFi networks as well as mobile networks so users can take advantage of the data compression no matter how they’re connected to the web.

On top of data compression, the app also gives users control over which apps consume data. You can block apps on both WiFi and mobile data in order to prevent them from using it. This is a great tool for those with limited web connections and it may also save a bit of battery. On top of web browsing, the app also works well in some social media sites like Instagram, some video streaming sites like Vimeo, and other potentially data-heavy applications.

Those who live in India and other supported markets can download Opera Max using the button below. If you live in India and have tried it out, leave us a comment to tell us what you thought. Anyone who wants to see our impressions of Opera Max can do so in the video above.
