Did you know Omate decided to run a funding campaign for only 48 hours? Surely, most of us would think they are nuts and signing up for failure, but they proved us all wrong by reaching their Omate Rise funding goal within the first 15 minutes. Impressive, right?

But really, success was to be expected. Omate does have a strong following, and their gadgets continue offering very unique abilities you wouldn’t find elsewhere. The Omate Rise is a standalone smartwatch that needs no companion. It runs a full, modified version of Android 5.1 Lollipop (not Android Wear) and even features its own data connection (via SIM card slot).

But don’t take this high-tech wearable for a delicate gadget. This thing is strong and adopts a sporty look many of us are very familiar with. It has a carbon fiber bezel, polycarbonate case and stainless steel screws. Oh and you don’t need to worry too much about water, as it is 1 ATM water-resistant. But let’s not forget about what’s inside!

As we mentioned above, Omate is only running this campaign for a couple days, so you best act quickly if you want to take advantage of the lower prices backers will have access to. The lowest you can get an Omate Rise for is $199, if you opt for the super early bird developer edition.
