Popular console title Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath heads to the Amazon Appstore

Fans of the Oddworld series are getting some good news today, as Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is now available exclusively on the Amazon Appstore. The unique world, graphics, characters and gameplay have all helped the game grow widely popular throughout the years. It has previously made its way to PC and iOS, and after quite a long time, it’s finally on Android.

For those unfamiliar with Stranger’s Wrath, you play as a bounty hunter called Stranger, hunting down outlaws in a Western-themed wasteland called Mudos. You can explore towns, forests, and even industrial facilities, all while playing as a first-person shooter or a third-person platformer. All of the characters talk trash and have a good sense of humor, making them possibly the most interesting part of the game.

The big differences between the console and mobile versions are obviously going to be with the controls, since Android doesn’t have any physical joysticks. If you’re unhappy with using a touch-enabled joystick, the developers have made Stranger’s Wrath compatible with twin-stick HID gamepads, allowing you to have more of a console-like experience with a physical controller.

We’re unsure as to when it will be released on the Google Play Store, but we’re sure hoping it will be soon. In the meantime, the game isn’t marked as “exclusive” to Kindle but we’re having trouble finding any other Android devices that work with it, though your mileage may vary.

Due to its Amazon exclusivity, it looks like the game requires you to own a recent Amazon device (Kindle Fire HD or later) to play it. We haven’t tested out compatibility with too many other devices, so head to the Appstore to see if your device is compatible. If you happen to have one of these devices, you can grab Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath for $5.99. Initially, the price seems a bit steep, but this is a console game we’re talking about. The graphics are insanely good, and this game will give you over 20 hours of gameplay.
