Nvidia Shield Hands On 1600 aa

After a rocky start, the Nvidia Shield finally landed into the hands of consumers a few weeks ago. Since that time, Nvidia has not only managed to fulfill all pre-orders, but has even sold out already! Due to the strong sales so far, Nvidia says it will now kick production of the device into high gear.

While the $299 Android-powered gaming handheld isn’t for everyone, its combination of Android 4.2 support, PC streaming and excellent built-in controls make it a solid choice for many gamers looking to bridge the PC and mobile world.

It’s still too early to say whether Nvidia has a hit on its hands or not, but if Nvidia can continue to provide this level of support for the device, things certainly look good.

Even better, Nvidia seems dedicated to improving the Shield experience and has now issued a 402MB update for its new handheld system.

The update brings with it several bug fixes, minor enhancements and audio performance tweaks.

Previously, Nvidia Shield owners had reported some audio issues when streaming their PC games over to the handheld. These problems are now fully addressed.

What do you think of the Nvidia Shield? Interested in getting one, already have one or feel that it is unnecessary purchase?

      Well this was unexpected O.o

The Z10 sold out too, only problem is the amount Blackberry shipped was super low.

I just don’t see how Shield could be popular when you attach a $40 gamepad to your bigger, higher res screen phone and there you have it, Project Shield, and you can buy a Nexus 7 with your remaining money.

I know right! Then again people still buy iPhones :/

With that price I’d rather buy better parts to my PC or a real gaming console

or you can buy 3ds or my favorite psvita , if you want handheld.

Yup. I don’t see why people buy this, but it’s good that they buy it so that nvidia gets more money to develope their PC stuff :D

well I still don’t want to buy Shield.
but if they plan to release another version, please make it slimmer like vita or 3ds.

They buy it for PC game streaming, not for playing android game so dont compare it to nexus 7. Skyrim or Bioshock under blanket are tempting to some folks.

But most people not aware of this feature, bad marketing.

I’d be tempted to buy one just for emulation, but i’m hoping it will be an annual release and I’ll grab the second generation. Screen is still a bit small for serious gaming though..

The shield is the best console for emulation i have ever used. Bar none. Flawless psx, mame, neogeo, snes, gba, ds etc.
