Update, April 21: A new update to Nova Launcher Beta makes the Android N-styled folder icon available to devices running Android 4.x and above (previously it was limited to Android Lollipop and newer).

Original post: April 15: Just a day after the Android N Developer Preview 2 arrived, Nova Launcher Beta has already added the new style of folder icon. The new folder replaces the previous “stack” of app icons with a circular “window” through which you can see up to four clipped app icons contained therein. If you’re all about having the latest and greatest but don’t have a Nexus device, you can at least fake it till you make it with Nova Launcher Beta.

The new folder style isn’t the default option in Nova, so you’ll have to select it manually in Nova’s settings. Of course, there’s no guaranteeing the new folder icon will stick around in the final Android N update – what we’re expecting to become Android 7.0 later this year – but it’s a nice new look to try out.

To get Nova Launcher Beta you’ll need to enable Unknown Sources in your device’s Security settings and install the Nova Launcher Beta APK. If you like to be on the bleeding edge at all times, you can also sign up for the Nova launcher Beta group, because you just know there’s going to be new Android N features added to the launcher in the very near future.
