It’s been a rough day today for anxious Nexus 7 buyers that have been counting the days and hours until their precious Jelly Bean tablet reached their doors.
In early morning we picked up a rumor that Google may be shipping the Nexus 7 tablet today, at least according to one reddit user that received shipment confirmation via email – we even checked that tracking number ourselves, although until writing these lines, his package had not been delivered.
We then found out that not only is Ebuyer shipping (free of charge) Google Nexus 7 pre-orders in the UK today, but that GameStop has been cleared by Google to start selling the tablet in its stores. This was certainly an alarming report for everyone that decided to buy the tablet straight from Google Play, even more so for those buyers that acquired the device right after its Google I/O announcement.
But now, we can put your mind (partly) at ease, as Google has finally announced that it started Nexus 7 pre-orders today. What better way to do it than post it on the official Nexus Google+ page? As you can see in the image above posted at 2:15 PM EST – which is when that reddit email said shipping would start – Google is “locked and loaded, ready to play: we’ve started shipping +Nexus 7 pre-orders today!” The same message has been posted on the company’s Twitter accounts.
Of course, that’s not the only confirmation you’re going to get. In fact, you probably have an automated response sent to your email address confirming everything. And here’s Google’s official statement on the Nexus 7 delivery, that’s currently playing on the company’s help line:
“We’re now shipping Nexus 7 pre-orders. The first wave of orders are going out today and all pre-orders are scheduled to ship within the next 3 business days. Once your order has shipped you will receive a confirmation email and tracking number. Though our agents are unable to provide a specific delivery date for individual pre-orders, please rest assured that our shipping team is working to fulfill all orders as quickly as possible.”
Yes, there’s a chance you won’t get your device today – we did say “(partly) at ease” just before – but at least you know what’s going on. So, are you one of the lucky ones, or will your Nexus 7 tablet arrive in the next three business days?
