16GB Nexus 7 back on sale on Google Play in Canada, official case goes up for $20

The Nexus 7 is turning out to be quite the big hit for Google, enough that some Canadian folks are experiencing shipment delays. If you can’t find one yet in your local stores back home, here’s an update on the Jelly Bean tablet’s availability on the Play Store.

After being slapped with the ‘sold out’ tag, the 16GB model of Nexus 7 is now back on sale on Canada Play Store. If you don’t mind the 3-5 days of waiting for Google to send it across border to your porch, better hit that buy button now and get those CAD $259 ready. Those looking for the 8GB Nexus 7 online aren’t as lucky, as the smaller capacity model is now listed as out of stock.

Also up on Play Store is the official case for the Nexus 7. The dark grey case can be had for $20, and like the tablet, it will be shipped in 3-5 days. We wouldn’t be too surprised to see it becoming a highly sought-after item, so it’s best to order one now while it’s still in stock.

The lightweight case comes in a soft matte finish. It doesn’t seem to be compatible with the hidden magnetic feature of the Nexus 7, which means no automatic screen on/off for now. Charging and hooking up your favorite headset to the tablet’s headphone port won’t be a problem, as you can access the two easily.

Interested in getting the official Nexus 7 case? Any trouble getting your Jelly Bean tablet?

The cover is still unavailable for me. I live in Montreal and all I got from the site was “This device is not for sale at this time.”

Wow. Talk about an impulse buy! I was listening to a Podcast where they were talking about the Nexus 7, then I read a post saying that it was available in Canada. 30 minutes later, I clicked BUY. Pretty pumped, just not sure how to explain this one to the wifey!

Same thing here… My Nexus is coming this Monday (6 days since it was posted, although I’ve paid for the 2 days delivery), but the case is still not for sale…

Is the 16GB still available to those of you in Canada?
    I get “coming soon” :-(

    • Paulo

Yep. The 8GB is ‘coming soon’ now, but the 16GB one is ‘in stock’

I preordered July 7 and my 16g was shipped earlier this week but with 7 day ground shipping to Vancouver Canada :( we were forced to pay $20 for 2 day air shipping too. Not happy. The nexus 7 is shipping from Louisville, KY so it’d be domestic shipping for Americans buying the Canadian nexus 7. I have to pay duty and brokerage. Uuggghh. How does that work!!

I picked up the last online one at Bestbuy and am just (5min ago) refused my order at the door. If I were you you just refuse the damn thing and get it from a local retailer, save yourself $20… I ordered on June 27th so I was way more livid about the shipping and the late delivery

There are still 23 in stock at Bestbuy, it ships from Richmond and gets to your door via Canada post in 2 days… trust me, save yourself $20 and wait just a little longer

Ordered my Nexus from Google Play (Canada) on July 27th at mid-day with a notice of 3-5 days for shipment. Received an email late on the SAME DAY saying that my order had been shipped (Montreal). Hurray!

After my very negative experience with Google Play (paid $20 for 2 day shipping and got mine 7 business days after it was shipped), I will just wait for covers and screen protectors to be offered by retailers and I’ll save myself shipping fees. I love my Nexus 7 but never again will I buy hardware (and accessories) from the Google Play store.

I had a similar experience. Paid $20 for 2 day, which became 7 days.
