Nexus 4

Canadian Nexus 4 owners looking to free themselves from restraints of a traditional wall charger will be happy to know that the official Nexus wireless charger is now on sale for $59.99 via the Google Play store.

Somewhat ironically, wireless charging was marketed as one of the more exciting features for the Nexus 4 and yet it is just now making its way to Canada, but better late than never. Of course Google hasn’t exactly been timely with hardly any of the accessories for the LG Nexus 4.

The accessory utilizes Qi wireless technology and is listed for a 4-hour charging time and a 5Vdc/1.0A output.

Is wireless charging worth $60? That’s really a matter of opinion. Although it isn’t exactly hard to plug something in, this does allow you to tuck away the mess of cords and place the orb somewhere convenient, like on your desk. Additionally, for those with an “on the go” lifestyle, the charging orb makes it easy to quickly set your phone onto the charger, even if for just a few brief moments before you head back out the door.

Still, not everyone will feel that the accessory is worth the price. What do you think, are wireless charging accessories worth the additional cost or not?
