Nexus 4 16GB shipping times reaches 6-7 weeks, could get longer

Nexus 4
The Nexus 4 release has been a fiasco. If anyone thought it was going to be over anytime soon, then Google has some bad news for you. If you hadn’t heard, Google has had a hard time keeping the Nexus 4 in stock. It doesn’t look like the woes are stopping anytime soon, either.

As Droid Life reports, the shipping time on the Nexus 4 16GB just keeps going up and up. This last Tuesday, the phone went back on sale with a 1-2 week shipping time. Not long after, it increased to 3-4. It is now Friday and it’s up to 6-7 weeks.

That means if you order it right now, you’re not getting it until the second week of January. That’s also assuming Google keeps up with their shipping times. Historically, with the Nexus 4 at least, they have not.

Will Google ever catch up with the Nexus 4 orders?

There will come a point eventually where Google will get caught up. Unfortunately, it won’t be this year. Since it’s the holiday season, it’s unlikely that people will stop ordering it as well. So you can likely expect the 6-7 weeks to evolve into longer.

To keep up with the latest, visit the Nexus 4 16GB Google Play page. To future Nexus 4 owners, are you going to order now and wait, or wait for the demand to go down?

How about 9-10 weeks on the 8gb version. Ouch!

I already got mine but I’m interested in their sales numbers. Thus might actually be the first nexus device that has been well received and had actually sold well.

Does anybody know how many devices did they sell?

    I got my Nexus last week… :)

How is it? Is there any sound problem?

      • AndroidBrian

Device is awesome. Its a great phone. Really fast & great display. No sound problems for me.

    • Kris

When did you buy it ?

  • Jose Viegas

I’ll wait for the upcoming Galaxy S4 instead :-D

or get GNote2 its amazing device :)

When the hell can I buy a wireless orb and bumper case! Google hasn’t even mentioned an ETA for there wireless orb. Can’t just show us something that awesome and leave us in the dark. Its been months and still no price or ETA. Wtf!!!!

  • I’m waiting for it, even though northern Europe might not get it until February … not going back to phones with non-published drivers. Must run CyanogenMod! :)

After all those minor problems it makes me wonder is it worth waiting for two and a half months and saving some cash just for early android updates?

  • They’ll catch up with production before the actual time just wait and see

I ordered mine the day they began selling them again and my “estimated ship date” is January 23rd! And yes, I did pay for “2 day shipping.” I remember this happening with the first Nexus and the same type of discussions all over the android blogs. Guess I just have to distract myself for a couple months and not watch too many reviews about the back cracking

I wounder If the Terminal shut down at 7 of the 8 terminals in port of Los Angeles and the 3 of the 6 at Port of Long Beach (the nations two busiest ports) has anything to do with this. They have been shut down for around 3 days now due to a strike. I’m an Engineer and i have multiple vessels I need to board that cant even enter the ports because there are still vessel already docked. No work is getting done. I would hate to think there’s some containers full on N4s held up…..

  • I was going to order the 16 gig last night but I’m going to wait till the 32 gig comes out, cause you know they will come out with it.
