The separating line between smartphone and digital camera has never been this thin! With Sony unveiling its latest CMOS camera sensor for mobile devices, a more pronounced image display can be expected. Having a rating of 8MP, the CMOS sensor gives each unit a different feel as the need for several layers and additional materials is no longer a necessity. As a result, sensors are easier to produce and they can even be made smaller than the previous camera hardware.
With regards to its features, the new sensor contains an HDR Movie effect; which results to richer images even with poor lighting. This is the same as a standard HDR image filter.
Smartphone manufacturers can get their hands on the new CMOS technology starting March of this year. Afterwards, a 13MP option will start rolling out in June.
Sony has big plans for the new CMOS technology and will even incorporate it with its product lineage.
