New Galaxy S4 ads: Harry Potter and Life of Pi spoofs; more iPhone-free airplane action
Samsung has released a variety of new Galaxy S4 ads, from two weird Harry Potter and Life of Pi spoofs in Taiwan, to more airplane action, this time around without any iPhone innuendo in the U.S.
A few days ago, we showed you the “Flight Chat” TV ad for the Galaxy S4 in which Samsung took hits at the iPhone while showing off some of the features of its flagship handset. The company has released a shorter version of that ad, called “The Eye Thing,” which only highlights the Smart Pause feature of the handset.
A second ad targeted at the U.S. market shows more action happening in the same airplane. “Bobblehead” explores the phone’s camera recording possibilities, showing teammates making fun of a sleepy colleague with the help of a couple of Galaxy S4s.
We’ve saved the strangest ads for last, two commercials apparently made for the Taiwanese market. In them, the Galaxy S4 is used for accomplishing all sorts of magic tricks in a Harry Potter-like magic school, or for keeping a certain tiger at bay.
Yes, the ads are very strange even though they highlights various features of the phone. See them for yourself:
That said, Samsung is certainly known for outspending everyone else when it comes to marketing its Galaxy handsets, so we’re not surprised to see the Harry Potter universe being spoofed. Just recently the company has included Monsters University in some of its Galaxy S4 ads, in what probably was a mutually beneficial ad campaign.
