Multitouch Google Maps now available for Motorola’s DROID

Motorola DROID for Verizon

It seems that DROID users are finally getting some multitouch love from Google, just as the Nexus One did earlier this week.  But unlike the Nexus One, which got new multitouch versions of the browser, gallery, and Google Maps apps as part of an over the air firmware update, DROID users get only a new multitouch version of Google Maps through the Android Market.

So if you have a Motorola DROID, hop on over to the Android Market and download the new version of Google Maps (v3.4) to get the multitouch goodness you’ve been waiting for. And if you haven’t tried it yet, test out the Dolphin Browser for its multitouch zooming.  I’m not a fan of the recent UI changes in Dolphin, but if you want multitouch (and tabbed) browsing on a DROID, it’s the easiest way to get it.
