Motorola Razr Ice Cream Sandwich

Jelly Bean is still just a fantasy for most devices out there, especially the ones that could run Android 4.1 but are yet to receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Such is the case with Canadian Motorola RAZR users that are still waiting to officially taste ICS on their handsets. However, there’s good news for them as Mobile Syrup is reporting that Motorola Canada mentioned on its Facebook Page an “early September” rollout of the RAZR ICS update:

“We wanted to share with you that the RAZR ICS upgrade will rollout in early September. We’ll have more details about the upgrade to share with you soon, so stay tuned!”

Of course, it’s only good news if you didn’t see the “late August” timeframe for the RAZR posted by Rogers in a recent update on ICS updates. Veteran Android users already know that timely Android updates are not something to be expected from OEMs, and especially carriers, which have their own agenda when it comes to selling phones.

The irony here is that Motorola is now a Google entity, and you’d expect the company to focus a lot more on releasing timely updates for supported devices.

As for that Jelly Bean upgrade for the RAZR, well, we’re probably months away from it, but we’ll definitely keep you in the loop.
