Motorola planning something new for Europe, will unveil its plans on January 14th

moto-invite-2

Back when the Moto X was first announced, many folks in Europe were disappointed to learn that Motorola would not be releasing the handset outside of the Americas. At the time Motorola promised that they still considered Europe a key priority for Motorola and that the Moto X was simply the first in a new product portfolio, hinting something new would eventually make its way to Europe.

Since then, most of the world has seen the impressively priced Moto G, but it appears that Motorola isn’t stopping there. Motorola has now begun sending out press invites for an event that will take place in London on January 14th. In the invite, Motorola says that they will be welcoming a new “addition to the European Motorola family of products”.

Being a tease, Motorola didn’t give out any other juicy details, but we have to wonder: could the company finally be preparing to bring a higher-end flagship phone to Europe that will complement the existing Moto X and Moto G? It’s really hard to say one way or another.

It’s possible this could be a Europe (or even UK) only handset in similar vein to the Moto X, or it could be something completely brand new. Heck, who is to say it isn’t a tablet or wearable device? Again, we just don’t know.

Luckily we only have a week left before we find out what Motorola has up their sleeves. What do you think, will this be a variant of the Moto X? A brand new handset, or something else entirely?

      • MasterMuffin

Nah they don’t do spec wars

        • Jayfeather787

Awww. Well as long as it has the optimized dalvik and bionic libraries from the Moto X, it should be fine.

          • MasterMuffin

Yup, Moto X performed well and had good battery life with those “awful” specs, so S600 should be fine and the battery life should 1 day of pretty heavy usage :)

An entirely brand new phone, probably the first 2014 flagship in Android world!

    • Paulus Net

There is already a phone showing in the invitation card.

Anything new will likely have leaked by now :)

Most of the leaks wore leaked by the company itself to fill news sites like this and keep fans in suspense. Look at Valve. No leaks about the HL3 for years :P

My guess is we will finally get a proper European website from where we can buy phones. No customs charges within the EU so personally I’m calling every manufacturer out there retarded for not doing this from the start. Except OPPO, the only company that actually uses it’s head.
Secondly there is no way we will see the X in Europe since it’s a gimmick POS phone for people who speak English. I find that whole project a big waste of time for the company but not like Dennis has proven him self as a competent CEO.
My hope is we see a line of phones to accompany the wonderful G. The phone that i think proved to be the best thing that came out of 2013. A 600 4.7″ and a 800 5″ would be awesome. There’s really no need to push past 5 inches. Samsungs S5 will by the looks of it have the same size screen as the Galaxy Note which i find stupid.
Before you start defending phablets know that there will be just as many of you defending a 7 inch phone in a year.

Moto m = more powerful and all the other stuff from moto x

  • Dieudo

If it’s just the Motorola X, they can keep their 6 months old crap.
Not gonna be happy with getting served the cold dishes.

See you when you finally launch your REAL, WORLDWIDE flagship. I won’t buy anything from you until then, Motorola.

  • KillEmAllx

    YES, please take my money!

  • Groud Frank

Keeping my fingers crossed for a Motorola Phablet!

  • joser116

Please let this not be the start of Motorola releasing a bunch of phones sporadically across the globe. I’d rather they release a few phones, each GLOBALLY, to keep things simple.

  • Shark Bait

About time moto! their only mistake with the X was limited availability

  • GrinigGammalGubbe
