Do you remember this bad boy? In late 2004, Motorola dropped this clamshell, flip-phone, into the phone market. Immediately this device became wildly popular and the Motorola RAZR was quick to become the “best-selling clamshell phone in the world”. Bearing the same popularity in mind, Motorola is preparing to release a smartphone under a similar name.
Rumors suggest that the Motorola Spyder, Droid RAZR, will be “iconic” like it’s predecessor. Motorola has managed to pack a 4.3 inch 960 x 540 pixel Super AMOLED display, 4G LTE, a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, and an 8 megapixel camera into this sexy body revealed in the leaked photo shown below.
Given that the phone is a “Droid”, we can all assume that it will be a Verizon device. Furthermore, although there are no rumors as to pricing yet, the Droid RAZR is speculated to be available for the holiday season. More specifically, rumors suggest that Verizon is contemplating a “Droid Loyalty” program. This device would fit in perfectly with the program and would be the “model” for the new program.
Finally, we can kiss the rumors of the “Droid HD” goodbye. Even with a quick glance, it is easy to notice that the Droid HD and the Droid RAZR are the same device.
Want? Enough to stand next to the Nexus Prime, the HTC Vigor, or the Samsung Galaxy S II?

Excellent, if the specs are true, im going for it!
Iconic like Motorola RAZR? I don’t think so.
The original RAZR stood out by far from its competitors at the time and it managed to stay that way for quite a while. It had something special that other handsets did not. If the rumours are true this Droid RAZR has almost identical specs and appearance to currently available smartphones. There is nothing special about it. Motorola, you might as well have advertising that shows a bunch of monkeys smearing their poo over the original clamshell, because tha’ts effectively what you’re doing to the RAZR name.
