In “why hasn’t this happened already” news, owners of Verizon’s Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx will finally be receiving the upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean within a month.
Motorola recently revamped its Android software update timeline site, which was earlier just a long table with device listings and expected software rollout schedules. Now, you can sort by region, carrier, and device, to find out when you’re particular device will be getting an upgrade easily, without having to scroll through a long list. You can now also sign up to receive email notifications about when your device will receive a software update.
Along with the site re-design, some update information has been changed. While earlier, we knew that the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx would be upgraded to Jelly Bean at some point, we now know that the update for both devices will be arriving in Q1 of 2013, which means that it will be available by the end of March, that is, if Motorola sticks to the schedule it has suggested on the site.
If you own any other Motorola device, you can find out what your update schedule is by heading over to the Android software update page here.
What are your thoughts? Are you excited that you’ll finally be receiving the official update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean? Have you been waiting for this update, or have you already moved to a custom ROM based on Jelly Bean? Let us know in the comments section below.

When waiting for ICS update: OMG GIVE ME THE UPDATE NOW!!
When learning of a JB update: well thats cool I guess.
I didn’t think jellybean would be a lot better but wow its not the jump to ics but it is a much welcomed improvement
Will kill free hot spot using FoxFi. It was nice not having to root the Maxx.
I live in in india i own motorola razr maxx will it get update form ICS to jelly bean plzzz let me know……
According to Android software update site (you can find the link the article above), it unfortunately looks like the Motorola Razr Maxx is India will remain on ICS, and not receive an upgrade to JB. Not sure what the reasons are for this, since the device is obviously capable of being updated. May have to do with the fact that Motorola has shut almost all its operations in India for the time being.
I’m running the Christmas Eve leak of JB, rooted, and I am a happy camper. The phone works perfectly, and there are zero issues. I’m not going to update to the official release on my Maxx until somebody roots it.
Will those of us who got the dec 24 JB update be updated too? I’d like to have the launcher screen….
Finally today my wife gets jellybean update in the UK for her razr I.
