Motorola Droid A855 Gets ICS Custom ROM [Download and Install]

Waiting for an Ice Cream Sandwich update? well, wait no more thanks to kfazz of XDA Developers Motorola Droid A855 users can now experience ICS. This is not an official update so that means some of its functions are not working. Here are some of the screenshots.

Just follow the simple steps below in updating your phone to ICS.


  • Make sure that your phone battery is charge at least 60%
  • Backup your phone data into your computer.
  • Turn on USB Debugging, on your homescreen tap Menu> Settings> Application> Development. Then, make sure that USB debugging is checked.


  1. First, download to your computer
  2. Then, connect your phone to the computer using the USB Data cable.
  3. Next, copy the file you have downloaded to the root directory of your SD card.
  4. Once you’ve finished copying the files, disconnect your phone to your computer.
  5. Turn off your phone, and go to recovery.
  6. When you’re in Clockworkmod Recovery make a Nandroid Backup just incase something goes wrong, you can restore it back easily. To do this, from the main menu select Backup and Restore> Nandroid Backup.

  7. Go back to main menu select “Wipe data/factory reset” and “Wipe cache partition”.
  8. Next, go back to main menu and select the option of Install zip from sd card> Choose zip from sd card> then choose to start updating your phone to Ice Cream Sandwich Firmware.
  9. Finally, after a successful update go back to the main menu and select Reboot System Now.

    I went through the process and got it installed on my droid. But.. I eventually had to uninstall it due to bugs with connecting to a server (google) for calender/contacts/ect. , it wouldn’t go into portrait mode, and It couldn’t connect to the camera. But this would be wonderful if those things could be worked out.

    installed having some random issues (physical keyboard doesnt light up. letter ‘b’ wont work) but the most annoying has to be that i cannot get a working market. google play

    The inputs are backwards for the keypad when you have it set for auto rotation. when you slide it closed it goes to landscape, and flips back when you slide it open
