A “trusted source” sent to the folks at Android Attic an alleged screencap of an updated inventory page for Best Buy. The page listed the Motorola DROID 3 as “in-stock” starting on July 13, 2011 and will be “out-stock” on July 13, 2013.
If the leaked inventory page were legit and reliable, it would mean that the Motorola DROID 3 will sell on Best Buy starting on the same day, or maybe the next. Earlier rumors pegged the release date for the DROID 3 on July 7 or thereabouts.
The Motorola DROID 3 (model XT883) has already been announced for China but under a different name–the Motorola Milestone 3. The U.S. version of the superphone will be officially carried by Verizon Wireless and will likely arrive in the U.S. ahead of the Milestone 3’s appearance in China, as has been traditional for the DROID series of handsets from Motorola.
The leaked release date for the Motorola DROID 3, however, is still unofficial. There is also the possibility of having the DROID 3 “in stock” early at Best Buy but actually released much later. The same thing happened to the HTC Thunderbolt which was announced as “in stock” but only started selling after a month.
The Motorola DROID 3 is eagerly awaited by many superphone fans because it is rumored to be the “king of all QWERTY superphones.” Are you getting this when it finally comes out on Verizon?
