This may come as a disappointment to adoring fans of the Motorola DROID Bionic who have been waiting for its arrival. The sad news came straight from the horse’s mouth, Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha, who confirmed that the DROID Bionic will arrive on Verizon at an unspecified date in September.

Jha broke the news at Motorola Mobility’s Q2 2011 Earnings Conference Call held last week.

Earlier rumors, leaks, and speculations have pointed to an August 4 release for the DROID Bionic, but all rumors were dispelled by Jha’s announcement.

The Motorola CEO was caught on record saying

We want to ensure that we deliver an exceptional consumer experience. Bionic will be the first device to deliver the combination of the power of LTE and a dual-core gigahertz processor. And, it will be in the stores in September.

(You can listen to the recorded webcast on the Motorola website.)

The DROID Bionic’s release date has been pushed back several times, with rumors of many changes and facelifts along the way (as well as resolution of bugs and software issues), since the time Motorola announced the handset at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011. Hopefully, Jha’s latest announcement about the Bionic’s release date will be the last change in its schedule of appearance on the market.

Are you going to wait for September? Or is it too far away for you?
