Following the announcement of Verizon’s three new Motorola handsets – Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini – a publication has learned that the Moto X will be released around the same time the new Droids hit stores.
A source “close to Motorola” told Phone Arena that the Moto X will be launched “somewhat simultaneously” with the new Droids.
That’s hardly surprising considering that Motorola will unveil the handset on August 1 in New York, and that the company did say that the handset will be available in stores this summer.
The three new Droids are available for pre-order starting today, and they will be launched in stores on August 20 (Droid Ultra and Droid Maxx) and August 29 (Droid Mini).
For what it’s worth, the three Droids are priced at $99.99 (Mini), $199.99 (Ultra) and $299.99 (Maxx), but these are on-contract prices. Comparatively, the Moto X is rumored to sell for $299 off contract (the 16GB version) although that’s yet to be confirmed.
We’ll be back with official Moto X details – and we can’t but wonder whether there’s anything new that survived the Moto X rumor avalanche – on August 1.
