Last month Motorola began a sale for the contract-free Moto X, marking it down by $126 for the 32 and 64GB variants, and down by $100 for the 16GB model. At the time, the promotion was meant to only last through July 31st. For those still looking to snag a discounted Moto X but happened to miss the deadline, Motorola has announced you’ll still have until August 6th at 11:59PM.
With all these continued sales, it pretty obvious that the company is trying to move as much stock as possible ahead of its next-gen launch. While many companies sell their last-gen flagship long after announcing a new one, we speculate that Motorola might do things a bit differently and could follow an approach more akin to Nexus devices, at least when it comes to selling through the Moto Maker. Even if Motorola does decide to discontinue selling the Moto X via the Moto Maker, we wouldn’t be surprised if (likely further discounted) Moto X non-customized units continue to be sold via carriers for a long time to come.
