While those in the United States still have to wait until January to get their hands on the ultra-affordable Moto G, Motorola’s new budget handset has now arrived to Canada by way of TELUS and Koodo Mobile.
Though not necessarily as cheap as United State’s promised price tag of $179, the Moto G is just $200 outright in Canada, or free with a new two-year contract from TELUS or Koodo. Besides the low-price, what makes the Moto G so special? Basically the Moto G is the first handset to combine sub-$250 pricing with reasonably high-end specs — expect for maybe the Nexus 4 when it was discounted down for quick sale.
As a refresher, the Moto G is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU with 1GB of RAM. Other specs include a 4.5-inch 1280×720 resolution display, a 5MP rear cam, 1.3MP front cam, a 2070 mAh battery and 8GB of internal storage.
As you can see, there’s a lot to like about the Moto G in terms of specs, and its extremely affordable pricing certainly doesn’t hurt any. How about it, anyone planning on picking up the Moto G?

What about the US? Where’s our Moto G?
But then again it’s not everyday our neighbors up north get something nice before any of us.
It’s slated to arrive in the US in January. I can’t wait for this little guy to become available. My girlfriend needs a new phone (desperately) and doesn’t want to spent a lot of money on it. This fits the bill perfectly. For what she uses her phone for this will have plenty of power under the hood. Pity it won’t be out for Christmas but what can you do?
I think I might just buy a Moto G when it arrives in January, just for the fun of it. . . heck, for the price it’s hard to go wrong. . . probably even be some coupons floating around rather soon.
Hopefully CM will be able to throw a ROM on this thing. . .
The 16GB is now best seller in amazon.co.uk and its still in pre-order, delivered after Dec 12. I think Motorola will hit the jackpot with this one. Is this the new Nexus? ;-)
Are Telus and koodo going to sell it unlocked or as prepaid phone you can use with those them.
I just called Telus and than Motorola to get an anwser to my question and no, Telus and Kodoo don’t sell the Moto G unlocked, only off-contract. They say that they don’t sell the Moto G unlocked in Canada yet. The guy at consumer service told me that it should be available unlocked in the future but he had no idea when. That’s bad news considering that Telus prepaid phone’s rate are very high.
I have been tracking about this phone day in and day out. Newsreports say that the phone will be available in India by the first week of January 2014. Desparately looking forward to this one bossy phone.
As am I. Finally a good phone after that X fiasco.
It’s not a phone that I would buy. It’s too small and the specs don’t cut it for me BUT it is a great device and it is my go to budget device when people ask for suggestions on what to get. I even encouraged my mum to get one when it does come out.
I was hoping it would come to WIND in Canada, which uses the T-Mobile bands. The T-Mobile 1900 MHz band isn’t all that reliable in my area. My Moto Razr i drops back to Edge in several places.
So basically this thing will roll out in the rest of the world super-dupper slowly. FFS Dennis just open a EU web-shop based in Germany with cheap regular mail shipping. There is now custom charges for inside EU so you could put it anywhere. If you don’t know how to do it ask the guys at OPPO to show you how it’s done.
This is probably gonna be a day one purchase for me. The bang for your buck is just too good to ignore. Just wish I waited before pulling the trigger on my Lumia 521. This thing just blows it out ta the water xP
It’s coming in January 2014. Not too far off.
My friend is getting one with his Verizon prepaid. He can’t wait.
Can’t wait! Been looking for a decent phone to match my Nexus 7 for a while, but I don’t have a huge budget so this is perfect.
It’s also available in Mexico, and not priced crazy high like the nexus 4 was! (9000 pesos or about 650 US dollars for the nexus 4)
