Originally known as the Motorola Sholes, the recently dubbed ‘Droid’ device is set to arrive on Verizon very soon, and looks good for the money. However, the name ‘Droid’ appears to be something Verizon are…
Blog website Android and Me have managed to score some time with the forthcoming Droid 2 device from Motorola. The most notable aspect of this new device is just how similar it is to the original Motorola Droid. In terms of size, build and finish, it is almost identical.
Of course, it is now running a 1 GHz TI OMAP3630 processor to liven things up somewhat. Android and Me performed a bunch of bench marking tests which together reveal that the Motorola Droid 2 is much faster than the original (naturally). Again, the most interesting find here is that the Graphics Processing Benchmark revealed that the Droid 2 nearly doubled the frames per second of the original Droid. Surprising considering the actual physical graphics processing units is the same in both devices. This reveals how much the processor and perhaps even the increase in RAM can help.
