    Tablet News

Simmtronics Xpad Mini tablet now available for Rs 9,999

    simmtronics xpad mini

Simmtronics is one of the few Indian manufacturers that has plans to manufacture its devices entirely in India, and not depend on importing whole or a part of the products from China, like some other OEMs do. With the current state of foreign exchange rates and import duties, this will also help Simmtronics keep the prices of its products low, as can be seen with the Xpad Mini. First, let’s take a look at the specifications of the Simmtronics Xpad Mini tablet -

    • 7.85-inch display with 1024×768 resolution
    • 1Ghz quad-core processor
    • 1GB RAM
    • 8GB internal storage, expandable via microSD up to 32GB
    • 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera
    • 3G support via dongle
    • 4,000 mAh battery
    • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

The low-cost tab is capable of Full HD video playback, along with the 5MP rear camera featuring the ability to record video in 1080p resolution. At its price point of Rs 9,999, the Simmtronics Xpad Mini is a really good buy in the quad-core tablet category. You can pick up the device from online retailers Snapdeal.

Swipe Telecom teams up with MTV again to release MTV Slate tablet

    mtv slate

After releasing the MTV Volt and MTV Slash smartphones, Swipe Telecom has one again teamed with the entertainment channel, for its first co-branded foray into the tablet market. Here’s a quick look at the specifications of the MTV Slate -

    • 7.85-inch display with 1024×768 resolution
    • 1.2 Ghz quad-core processor
    • 1GB RAM
    • 8GB internal storage, expandable via microSD up to 32GB
    • 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera
    • SIM card slot for 3G support and voice calling
    • 3,200 mAh battery
    • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

As you can see, the MTV Slate is quite similar to Simmtronics Xpad Mini, with the only differences being a smaller battery, a faster processor, and the availability of an in-built SIM card slot and voice calling, with the last feature the only reason to justify paying for the more expensive tablet out of the two, if it is a must-have option for you. The MTV Slate is priced at Rs 14,999, and is available from the official Swipe Telecom store here.

While using this app will be one of the best navigation experiences you have, the price of the app is very steep, at Rs 2,050. Even though it’s worth every rupee, such a high cost for a navigation app will be quite off-putting for a lot of people. Another thing you need to watch out for is the requirement of at least 880MB of free space on your device or external storage.

You can find complete instructions, and download the app from the Google Play Store here.
