Micro HDMI Dock for EVO 4G
The EVO 4G is one of the original smartphones to include the new HDMI 1.4 standard via the Micro HDMI connection that it offers. There are varying reports on how good the HDMI 1.4 standard actually is and whether or not the EVO 4G offers a great HDMI experience. Indeed, as Android and Me point out, PCMag were “quite disappointed with the HDMI experience on the Sprint EVO 4G.” Issues with certain televisions only seeing the input as 480p as opposed to the full 1080p etc. made the experience unpalatable.
Anyway, reorienting ourselves back to the dock, Best Buy are set to offer the special EVO 4G HDMI dock along with a bunch of other accesories. Your Evo 4G will fit into the dock upright, as opposed to landscape. This is at odds with what one might expect especially given the style of docks for other similar higher-end devices. Nonethesless, we look forward to seeing the dock in action and more importantly, test how good the HDMI features are.
