Google Glass has been floating around the web for some time now. You may or may not have noticed the widespread use of the hashtag #throughglass these days as bloggers and blogger types use Google Glass to document their everyday lives. Meanwhile, companies around the world are checking in to Glass to see what kind of products and apps they can create to make Google Glass an every day thing instead of just a tech nerd thing. Mercedes-Benz is among those and they want to use Glass to create a more seamless door-to-door navigation experience.

As Business Journal reports, Mercedes-Benz R&D are looking into making Google Glass a complete navigation experience. The idea is described as having a seamless navigation experience that combines the driving directions while in a car and directions while walking without requiring any switching.

It’s a nifty idea but it’s not overly unique. It isn’t all that difficult to change from pedestrian directions to in-car directions. However, we speculate that Mercedes-Benz is likely going to do more with this project than merge two existing ideas into one. For instance, they are currently working on an app for smartphones that turns the smartphone into essentially the dashboard of the car. This provides information and entertainment through the app instead of a dashboard. It’s only speculation, but features like that along with the “door-to-door” navigation would definitely make this a much more interesting project.

Of course, we’d like to know what you think. Glass is very expensive already, but would the addition of features like this make it a little more worth buying? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
