Meizu MX3

When we last brought you news of the Meizu MX3, it was to show off some new press renders and rumors. One rumor, which turned out to be correct, was that the phone would carry a whopping 128GB of storage. The Meizu MX3 is now official and it will fit right in with the other most powerful smartphones in the world.

Here are some of the Meizu MX3 specs:

  • Exynos 5410 Octa SoC (featuring 8 cores, 4 A15 at 1.6GHz and 4 A7 at 1.2GHz)
  • 2GB RAM
  • 128GB of storage
  • PowerVR SGX544 GPU
  • 5.1-inch, 1800×1080, 415ppi IPS display
  • Android 4.2 with Meizu’s custom Flyme 3.0 skin over top
  • 8MP camera with 2MP front facing camera. Back camera has sapphire glass-protected lens, an f/2.0 aperture, and Fujitsu ISP.
  • Wolfson audio chip
  • 2400mAh battery

All in all, it’s really not a bad device. The specs are on part with most flagships today and shouldn’t have much trouble competing on that level in terms of performance. The Meizu MX3 also boasts a state of the art antenna which Meizu claims is vastly better than the iPhone 5 for reception. The device comes in GSM flavor now, with a WCDMA version promised.

For pricing, sources report that it’ll be around $410US for the 16GB variety with options going up to $650US for the 128GB model. About the only thing that could cause the Meizu MX3 trouble is that single home button below the interface. We wouldn’t be shocked if Apple lawyers were drawing up a complaint about that as we speak.

It’s definitely a good looking device and with solid specs and pricing, it has the capability to go pretty far. All things considered, would anyone want to pick one of these bad boys up? If you have a moment, we’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Pretty good phone, but not great for me. First of all, MX3 doesn’t support 4G/LTE depending on S4’s SoC and for me even here in Greece is a big disadvantage. Secondly, the screen seems to have a weird aspect ratio 15:9 and not fullHD resolution…but ok, it’s acceptable at least. In addition to all these, the battery has little capacity of mAh but the most important for me is the price, because at the same price as the 16GB MX3, I could get the S4 and of course it supports NFC technology.

Where can you find the S4 at $410? I just looked on Amazon.com and the cheapest price is $565. Is the phone cheaper in Greece?

      • Antonis

Here in Greece the ratio between U.S. Dollars and Euro is 1:1 no matter what product you buy. Ok, I exaggerated a bit, but if you consider this, the cheapest S4 price is 430€ at this moment in some department stores or internet shops. But, if you check a little bit more, you can find S4 in small stores below 400€! Sorry, for the little misunderstanding and for my English.

Thanks for the explanation. I just didn’t know how it was in Greece.

The 5:3 (nee 15:9) aspect ratio is actually better looking than the stretched 16:9 aspect ratio. Guess they could have gone with a 1920×1152 resolution.

It’s great that a company offers up to 128Gb. However I don’t think that I will by this phone because I don’t like the presence of the Home button. This phone looks a lot like an iphone 4 with thinner bezels. I prefer the design if the Xperia Z1/Honami.

Do you even have eyes? If so, use them!

Don’t you hate having to reach all the way to the power button to turn the wake the phone on every time? The home button (if it is a button) is in a perfect location.

It’s a great phone, good specs, but I still wont’ buy it. Cause it’s way too damn big.

I don’t mind reaching the power button. Moreover, I will probably buy the Xperia Z1 which has the power button at thumb’s reach, so that won’t be a problem. The specs of the MX3 are good but I don’t like the design.

    Nice phone.

I take it back when I said that nobody needs 128Gb of storage on a phone. I need just for showing off :D

Finally an Android OEM gets it with 128GB of storage and isn’t afraid to show that it’s worth the risk.

      have Samsung released 32gb of s4 ?

  • Cheeseydick

Nice finally manufacturers are waking up to giving us decent storage capacity, 1tb would do me

  • Alu Zeros

If I could use this unlocked on T-Mo I’d buy one in a second.
