For people of you who are fans of the hardware of Motorola phones, but not such big fans of Motorola’s skinned UI known as Motoblur, we have good news. Yesterday, Kejar31 and Jurmmy16 released the popular Liberty3 ROM for the Droid 3. This ROM gives the user a more ‘vanilla’ Android experience, something many enthusiasts prefer over such skinned interfaces such as Touchwiz, Sense, and the previously mentioned Motoblur. The ROM is by no means in perfect working order, but its amazing how well Liberty3 is running thus far. Some of the bugs popping up for some users have included the front facing camera force closing, the right side of the app drawer acting up in some cases, and some  users reporting problems with some of the apps from the market. Also, the developers have not been able to get mobile hotspot functionality working as of yet. If you are feeling adventurous and want to give this ROM a shot, head over to the link below for full installation instruction.

To install this ROM, your phone will need to be rooted, and it will need the Droid 3 version of Clockwork Mod installed. Full directions on installing the ROM can be found at XDA Forums.

Have you rooted your device yet? What ROMs are you rocking now?

Also just a side note, the Bionic also has the same ROM available with the same install process, it can be found at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320919

The Mobile Hotspot works just dandy on the DX. Now sure what would be different in the D3
