LG has commented that it will release up to 20 smartphones this year that are based on our beloved Google Android. The chief financial officer has admitted that LG needs “some more time’’ to turnaround its failing smartphone department. They will be the first to admit that the main reason they have done so badly thus far is down to the fact that they were under-prepared.

Up until now, LG have announced five Android handsets: LG GW620, LG Optimus GT540 (as shown), LG Ally for Verizon, LG Optimus Q LU2300 and LG SU2300. This leaves us with another 15 to go. As far as we’re concerned, churning out 15 more LG devices is nice because of the Android factor, but the company would do better if they released 5 or 10 more devices that were carefully targeted and innovative.
