Phablet enthusiasts may have quite a bit to be excited about this year. Samsung has officially announced an August 29th release date for its Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and now it seems that the LG Optimus Vu phablet may be heading to the U.S. market as well. The Optimus Vu has already sold over 500,000 units since it’s launch in March of 2012, so it’s not surprising to hear that the Korean company now officially has plans for the states.

While LG officially stated that they had plans for an LTE version of the Optimus Vu this quarter, they didn’t specify which carrier would get the phablet. Luckily, pictures of a Verizon version of the Optimus Vu already hit back in July, so it’s pretty easy to connect the dots.

The hardware inside the Vu includes a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, 32MB of internal memory, a massive 5-inch display, and Android 4.0 ICS. Verizon users that have been itching to get their hands on a phablet may not have to wait much longer. With this quarter ending in September, it may only be a matter of time before the 5-inch smartphone hits store shelves.
