LG Optimus G2 a no-show at CES, hopefully we’ll learn more at MWC
Last week we reported on the rumor that LG would unveil the so-called Optimus G2 at the company’s CES press conference. With the conference over, the G2 was a complete no-show.
In fact, LG didn’t unveil any new smartphones during its CES 2013 press conference. Instead, they talked about some of their phone related achievements in 2012, including the Optimus G and LG Nexus 4.
LG also announced a new feature coming to the Optimus Vu 2, a Panorama Note capability. This is basically a huge virtual canvas for writing notes, creating drawings and anything you would use a giant notepad for. You can zoom in and out of spaces with the feature, and there is a mini-map for navigating around.
The rest of the conference focused more on Television efforts. LG also spoke quite a bit about “Smart Life” connectivity between various LG devices and smartphones.
Disappointed by the lack of news related to the rumored 5.5-inch 1080p LG Optimus G2? The good news is that you hopefully won’t have to wait too much longer.
According to LG’s VP of marketing James Fisher, we can expect new handset announcements at MWC. In his own words:
“At MWC next month, and throughout the year, we’ll be bringing more tier-one handsets in various screen sizes.”
If the 5.5-incher is more than just a rumor, odds are we will hear more about it at MWC. Did you expect an announcement today or are you not surprised that the company would wait until MWC?
