As we move further into the second half of the year, manufacturers are racing to release the next big Android device. For one, LG has confirmed the existence of the Optimus G and its high-end specs and even teased it a bit on video. While the phone will only be officially unveiled at the IFA 2012 event in Berlin at the end of the month, pictures of the Optimus G have popped up online.
The LG Optimus G that Androidmx.net has gotten their hands on seem to resemble the exterior — front part, at least — of another quad-core offering from the company, the Optimus 4X HD. The boxy look has somewhat been refined and there are more curves in the Optimus G. We’re just not sure if this is what the final product would look like, as it just seems less polished.
Specs-wise, the LG Optimus G will be one of the first smartphones to ship with a quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and Adreno 320 GPU. Alongside the zippy SoC, it’ll have a 4.7-inch HD IPS display, 2GB RAM, and 13MP rear camera. What’s less impressive is the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich that the phone is running. We imagine Android enthusiasts will go wild – as raucous as us geeks can get – if LG somehow manages to put Jelly Bean on the final version.
There you have it – pics and confirmed specs of the LG Optimus G. We foresee a video trailer will be out soon as we near the unveiling date.
